A 1st tier automotive supplier contracted D&E Machine Company to CNC machine and assemble a series of 5 cylinder roller clamps for a work cell application. These cylinder clamps were built to replace existing parts that were designed and manufactured by another company. These previous components were not working in our client’s machine, causing repetitive machine component breakage and cell down time. When unable to receive cooperation from their original supplier, our client turned to D&E for help.
Based off customer supplied design and drawings, we used our advanced CNC turning, milling, and assembly operations to build parts that met precise customer specifications. The project included purchasing commercial items that were included in the assembly, such as ball bearings and Thompson shafting and air cylinders. Constructed from 1018 cold rolled steel, each cylinder roller clamp was heat treated to 55-58 RC, and then provided an electroless nickel plating and a smooth, 63 surface finish. Once machining was complete, we then delivered the clamps to our client’s facility in Cincinnati within a 3 week turnaround period.
Using our advanced design and manufacturing services, D&E was able to provide our client with 5 cylinder roller clamps that successfully replaced previous problematic parts. Our roller clamps helped our client avoid further machine component breakage and production down time.
